Health & Wellness Centre
This project was based off the IIDA Student Project for 2020, to create a private healthcare clinic within an existing hospital building. The design should promote increased efficiency and create a seamless patient experience from check in to checkout. The design should create a sense of “homefullness” and well-being. At least 1/2 of the products specified must be from OFS and Carolina, a healthcare furniture supplier.
My answer to these design challenges was to create a seamless, efficient, calming and restorative workplace for both the patients and the staff through the use of Biophilic design principles; using natural elements such as concrete, stone, wood and glass; maximizing the natural light with clerestory windows; increase flow through a logical layout; and using repetition of materials throughout the clinic creating harmony.
